Invest in map layers, make them accessible and work together – a cost saving combination

Mapping layers acquired by CLEAR through the MS4 project + making them available on the CT ECO website = big benefits for users including a surprise savings of at least a half million dollars for the state.  Whoa.

Take home messages which are also principles I work by

  1. investing in base datasets lays the foundation for all sorts of further data development
  2. making data layers available and accessible means that EVERYONE can benefit, use and create
  3. communication and collaboration create synergy.

Tremendous amounts of time, energy and effort go into these three before big benefits are realized and especially quantified, but the results are worth it!
