Description: This free online course will familiarize you with the hazardous waste requirements in Connecticut and has been developed to assist facilities in meeting the initial and annual training requirements for hazardous waste generators under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA).This course is designed as a general overview of the regulatory requirements for managing hazardous waste (e.g., classification, storage, transport, disposal) and is targeted to hazardous waste handlers, managers and supervisors responsible for knowing the law and complying with it. This course is NOT intended to satisfy all of your RCRA hazardous waste training requirements. Additional training, including on-the-job training, with specific information about the actual chemical waste, handling equipment and procedures, emergency procedures, employee job duties, and other circumstances specific to the individual facility should also be completed. You should contact your supervisor, site safety compliance manager or site environmental manager to determine what additional training you will need to ensure that you handle your hazardous waste in compliance with all safety and legal requirements.

Format: Online, at your own pace, 16 modules with text content, interactive activities, practice quizzes, and a final review assessment
Estimated time to complete: 8 hours (must be completed within 60 days of registration)
Completion reward: A Certificate of Completion is available after achieving a score of eighty (80) percent or greater on each of the sixteen (16) module quizzes and upon completion of the course survey.
