An introduction to a tool for Source Water Protection developed by UCONN CLEAR in collaboration with the Department of Public Health and the Council on Soil and
Water Conservation. This GIS model can support public and private sector decision making and policy development for the protection of drinking water in our state and serve as a model for other regions to address the emerging challenges in drinking water supply watersheds and the expanding role of watershed managers in source water protection.

The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (CT DEEP) has recently updated the 2004 Stormwater Quality Manual and plan to release the newly revised Manual this Fall. CT NEMO has teamed up with CT DEEP to help provide more information and insight into the revised Manual and what it means for you. To kick everything off, NEMO will be hosting an overview webinar, in which we’ll cover an overview and history of the Manual from 2004 to this new revision, the ‘big picture’ changes to expect, their impacts on the CT DEEP general stormwater permits and best management practices, potential impacts to local land use regulations, and guidance on using and navigating the manual.

Join Connecticut’s first Geographic Information Officer, Alfredo Herrera, to learn about the mission, goals, and activities of the new CT GIS Office and the new CT Geodata Portal. The CT Geodata Portal is a catalog of geospatial data and apps developed by Connecticut state agencies and partner organizations. Alfredo will talk about different ways to use the Geodata Portal and what is planned in the future.

This webinar provides an overview of the ecology and geology of sandy beach-dune systems in Connecticut. We provide highlights from a soon to be available booklet which includes an overview of the ecology of Connecticut’s beach-dune ecosystem and an in-depth look at the geology of these areas, including why Connecticut beaches are different from those in neighboring states. Descriptions with photographs of common plants, birds and invertebrates are provided for easy identification, and we show a sampling of these during the webinar.
