Impervious Surface Estimates by Local Watershed
|

Results
of the Impervious Surface Analysis Tool (ISAT) for the 2002 land
cover for Connecticut. The warmer colors have more imperviousness
than the cooler colors.
The
black line separates the coastal study area* towns used for analysis
by the CALCAP
project from the inland towns. Data are averaged by local
watershed (not shown).

The
ISAT was used with the 2002 land cover along with a set of derived
coefficients in order to estimate impervious surface area for
each local watershed in Connecticut. The Impervious
Surface Section of the NEMO website discusses a number of
methods for mapping imperviousness. The section
on ISAT describes this method and links to the NOAA website
where you can download the ISAT as well as a link to the coefficients
derived for the Connecticut land cover.

* The Coastal
Study Area consists of the 36 Coastal Area Towns in Connecticut plus
six towns bordering the Connecticut River. Visit the Study
Area page for a map and the full definition of the Coastal Area
and Coastal Boundary.
