3. Andover Regulated Lands
Regulated Lands identify areas that have some legal restrictions on their use. Flood Hazard Zones are identified by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in their Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs), and show areas that are in the 100 and/or 500-yr floodplains. Wetlands are regulated in CT by soil type and any activity proposed in these areas must be reviewed by the Inland Wetlands Commission of your town (also see map 4a). Aquifer Protection Areas that surround public drinking water supply wells are designated by CTDEP as areas that must limit new high-risk land use activities and existing high-risk land use activities must be registered and made to follow best management practices. The Coastal Boundary shows the narrow strip along the coast where new development must be reviewed by CT DEP Office of Long Island Sound.
