The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) National Land Cover Characterization 2001 project has produced a land cover dataset for the United States and Puerto Rico using 30-meter Landsat 5 and 7 data. The 2001 National Land Cover Dataset (NLCD) is a cooperative effort involving several Federal agencies including: USGS, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA), U.S. Forest Service (USFS), and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The seamless NLCD contains 21 land cover classes. The 2001 NLCD for Connecticut's HUC12 watersheds is displayed below.
