Farmland Soils

This map shows the areas of two general soil groups - those areas that are comprised of soils classified by the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service as prime farmland soils and those areas that are comprised of soils that are classified as farmland soils of statewide significance. Both classifications include soils that are well suited for growing crops and for other agricultural uses such as pasture. Dark brown areas are prime farmland soils and gold areas are farmland soils of statewide significance. Click on any town on the map to view an more detailed soil description for that town.
